Study in Italy
Be aware that procedures can be time consuming. Please note that Istituto Italiano Design admission’s procedures and Visa procedures are different; therefore, steps completed for the admission in Istituto Italiano Design do not replace any of the necessary steps to get the Visa: please follow strictly Italian Authorities directions.
Please note that for applications to the BA Courses in “Interior Design” (DIPL02) and in “Design of Graphics & Multimedia” (DIPL01) you can use an easier proceeding through the ministry platform UniversItaly addressed to NON-EU students: www.universitaly.it
To-Dos List Before Leaving Your Country
1) Identify the relevant Italian Authority: you will refer to the Italian Diplomatic Representatives in your Country that will be responsible for the evaluation of your application. Visit http://vistoperitaliaesteri.it/home/en and follow the guided procedure for the list of Italian Diplomatic Representatives.
2) Be aware of requirements and regulations: all requirements and regulations connected to the Visa application, you will need to refer to, are set by the Italian Authority. Remember that it’s your responsibility to be aware of all the steps of the process, required documents and deadlines, in order to nail your study-visa.
3) Contact the relevant Italian Authority ASAP: don’t forget to verify on time which are the necessary steps requested by the competent Italian Authority in your country, some steps such as complete the pre-enrollment at the Embassy/Consulate or book an appointment with them very well in advance could make the difference in succeeding to get the visa or not. Moreover, some representatives only receive by appointment, most of them have limited spots available and might have different internal deadlines, that’s why it is important to reach them as soon as possible.
4) Get the visa: don’t forget to bring the original one when you will meet the admissions office at your arrival here.
Some of the required documents:
1. no. 2 passport‐size photos;
2. Admission Letter;
3. Pre‐enrollment application form –1 original and 2 copies;
4. Entitlement to medical care Italy;
5. Amount of money necessary to travel back to your Country of residence/purchased valid return‐ticket
6. Declaration of value your School/Universityqualification and your School/University Qualification (diploma, certificate, etc.) in original/certified copy or a substitutive document valid to all legal effects;
7. Proof of accommodation Italy:an amount of at least € 5.889,00 must be attested.
If Your Visa has been refused by the Italian Embassy or Consulate, you have the right to appeal against the unfair refusal within 60 days from the date of notification. In order to provide you full support, IID will need a copy of the letter received from the Italian Consulate or Embassy; “proof of funding” or “proof of income”; copy of your passport.
Following an incorrect procedure or making wrong applications may lead to significant consequences, for this reason, it is critical to apply to a lawyer with the competence to execute a well‐drafted appeal. As an Italian lawyer is required by law to conduct the appeal process before the Administrative Tribunal in Rome (TAR) you cannot appeal personally.
IMPORTANT: To be considered that even if coming with aBachelor degree from a Partner University or with a Secondary school diploma deemed as “valid” from the University, you could be asked from the competent Italian Authorities to provide them with further documentation as confirmation of the validity of the diploma (apostille, legalized translation in Italian or English, Declaration of value…).
Means of subsistence attesting that, for the period of stay, you have the needed financial ability to support yourself, travel and reside in Italy, complying with its living standards: an amount of at least € 5.889,00 must be attested.
Please be aware that wrong declarations could consist in the revocation of your visa and the revocation of your permit to stay.
Certifies adequate financial resources for the validity period of the residence permit (€5.889). According to Italian law the money should be on an Italian Bank Account (in Euro) at your arrival in Italy, otherwise as soon as you are in Italy you will have time to open an Italian bank account before the releasing of the permit.
