Be aware that procedures can be time-consuming. Please note that the admission procedures of Istituto Italiano Design and visa procedures are separate processes. Therefore, completing the admission process at Istituto Italiano Design does not replace any of the steps required to obtain a visa. Applicants are advised to carefully follow the instructions provided by the Italian authorities. For applications to the Bachelor's Degree Courses in Interior Design (DIPL02) and Design of Graphics & Multimedia (DIPL01), non-EU students can benefit from a simplified application process through the official Universitaly platform: www.universitaly.it

STEP 1 – CONTACT THE ITALIAN DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVE

Identify the relevant Italian Authority: you will need to contact the Italian Diplomatic Representative in your country, which will be responsible for evaluating your application. Visit http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en and follow the guided procedure to find the appropriate Italian Diplomatic Representative.

STEP 2 – UNDERSTAND THE VISA REQUIREMENTS

Be aware of requirements and regulations: all requirements and regulations related to the visa application are established by the Italian Authorities. It is the applicant’s responsibility to be fully informed about every step of the process, including required documentation, procedures, and deadlines, in order to successfully obtain a study visa.

STEP 3 – REACH OUT EARLY TO THE ITALIAN AUTHORITY

Contact the relevant Italian Authority as soon as possible: make sure to verify in advance all the requirements and procedures requested by the competent Italian Authority in your country. Some steps, such as completing the pre-enrolment process at the Embassy or Consulate or booking an appointment, may need to be arranged well ahead of time and can significantly impact the success of your visa application. In addition, many diplomatic representatives operate by appointment only, have limited availability, and may apply different internal deadlines. For this reason, it is essential to contact them as early as possible.

STEP 4 – BRING YOUR VISA UPON ARRIVAL

Obtain your visa: once your visa application has been approved, make sure to bring the original visa document with you when meeting the Admissions Office upon your arrival at Istituto Italiano Design. This document may be required to complete your enrolment and administrative procedures.

Two passport-size photographs;
Admission Letter;
Pre-enrolment application form (one original and two copies);
Proof of health insurance coverage valid in Italy;
Proof of sufficient financial means, including funds for return travel to your country of residence or a valid return ticket;
Declaration of Value (DoV) of your educational qualification, together with the original diploma, certificate, or an officially certified copy, or an equivalent legally recognized document;
Proof of accommodation in Italy and evidence of financial support, with a minimum amount of €5,889.00 available.

If your visa application is refused by the Italian Embassy or Consulate, you have the right to appeal the decision within 60 days of receiving the notification. In order to assist you, IID will require a copy of the refusal letter issued by the Embassy or Consulate, proof of financial means or income, and a copy of your passport. Please note that submitting incomplete documentation or following incorrect procedures may have significant consequences. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to seek legal assistance from a qualified professional. Under Italian law, appeals before the Regional Administrative Court (TAR – Tribunale Amministrativo Regionale) in Rome must be filed through an authorized Italian lawyer and cannot be submitted personally.

IMPORTANT: To be considered that even if coming with a Bachelor degree from a Partner University or with a Secondary school diploma deemed as “valid” from the University, you could be asked from the competent Italian Authorities to provide them with further documentation as confirmation of the validity of the diploma (apostille, legalized translation in Italian or English, Declaration of value...). Means of subsistence attesting that, for the period of stay, you have the needed financial ability to support yourself, travel and reside in Italy, complying with its living standards: an amount of at least € 5.889,00 must be attested. Please be aware that wrong declarations could consist in the revocation of your visa and the revocation of your permit to stay. Certifies adequate financial resources for the validity period of the residence permit (€5.889). According to Italian law the money should be on an Italian Bank Account (in Euro) at your arrival in Italy, otherwise as soon as you are in Italy you will have time to open an Italian bank account before the releasing of the permit.
